LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Just days ahead of Kentucky's primary election on Tuesday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was in Lexington on Saturday to speak at the state's annual GOP Lincoln Day Dinner.

The Republican dinner was held at the Marriott Griffin Gate Hotel in Lexington on Saturday night.

The night started with a strong message from Sen. Mitch McConnell who said republican Mitt Romney will soon take over the White House.

Christiehad his own prediction for November.  He said the President will try to divide America and then conquer it.

His visit didn't sit well with Kentucky democrats who accused Christie of quote, "pandering to the extreme right wing base."

Christie had been named as a potential presidential candidate in this year's Republican primary, but chose not to enter the race. He still is being talked about as a potential vice presidential running mate.
