JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) - Republican Mike Moore has unseated Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan. Moore defeated Galligan by 721 votes out of 10,700 total voters.
Moore saluted Galligan in his victory speech, saying “The man gave 12 years of his life for the city in Jeffersonville. I will always respect anybody that can serve three terms and go through what I'm sure he had to go through.”
Moore also said he would cancel the controversial canal project spearheaded by Galligan. “There's a whole lot of problems in Jeff that need fixing and there's drainage problems in just about every subdivision you go into. We're going to be dealing with those kind of projects instead of dealing with projects like building a canal,” Moore said.
