LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The most watched U.S. Senate race in America has its temperature taken on Thursday with the release of the WHAS11/Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll of Kentucky's 2014 U.S. Senate race, nine months before the general election.
Previous polls released by partisan polling firms have indicated a tight general election contest between Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D). Those polls have also shown McConnell with a sizable lead over Republican primary challenger Matt Bevin.
WHAS11 will release the poll results at 6pm on all of its platforms, WHAS-TV, WHAS11.com, and on WHAS11 Political Editor Joe Arnold's Twitter and Facebook accounts. We will also send a push alert on the WHAS11 news app straight to you phone. Download the app here.
In partnership with Lexington's WKYT-TV and the Herald-Leader, six WHAS11/Courier-Journal Bluegrass polls are planned throughout 2014, tracking the Senate race and key issues facing the Kentucky General Assembly. Between Thursday and Sunday, the poll will reveal voter sentiment on the Affordable Care Act, same-sex marriage, control of the statehouse, a proposed increase in the minimum wage, a state smoking ban, the legalization of medical marijuana and a local option sales tax.
Survey USA founder Jay Leve will analyze the U.S. Senate poll results on WHAS11 News at 6pm. Survey USA queried voters across Kentucky within the last week for the Bluegrass Poll.
