Local polling expert Ted Shlechter's final projections and predictions for the 2010 mid-term elections show a virtual Republican sweep in local major races.  He has added Republican Hal Heiner to his predictions list.  The way Dr. Ted sees it, the only Democrat to survive is Congressman John Yarmuth.

Louisville mayor

Greg Fischer (D)  48%

Hal Heiner (R)      51%

U.S. Senate

Rand Paul defeats Jack Conway (Dr. Ted, did I miss your spread?)

Dr. Ted has a fascinating hypothesis that the projected Republican surge is especially strong in coal states, which suggests a connection between the election and President Obama’s climate bill (Cap & Trade):

In these challenging economic times, I suspect that people in certain regions of this country are seemingly terrified that Obama’s energy and climate policies will takeaway their jobs or hurt their pocketbooks.

U.S. House - Third Congressional District KY

John Yarmuth (D) 52%

Todd Lally (R)       47%

U.S. House - Third Congressional District KY

Ben Chandler (D)   49.5%

Andy Barr (R)           50.5%

U.S. House - Ninth Congressional District IN

Baron Hill (D)       47.5%

Todd Young (R)   52.5%
