LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11) -- The officer who shot an armed woman in Louisville Thursday is former reality TV star Vadim Dale, who appeared on the show "Outback Jack" in 2004.
Louisville Metro Police released Dale's name and five letters of commendation on Friday. The Australia native became a Metro officer in June, 2010 after entering recruit class in November, 2009. He has no discliplinary action in his LMPD file.
On Thursday, as Second Division officers responded to an earlier quadruple shooting in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood, police say one woman at the scene opened fire on another woman, killing her.
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad said Dale shot the armed woman after she raised her gun toward police. Dale is on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
Dale met Louisville native Natalie Franzman on the television show and moved to Louisville with her.
Prior to joining LMPD, Dale trained cadaver dogs for search and rescue operations, including the search for 4 year old Ivan Cano, whose body was found in a garbage truck in 2007.
