LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Indiana's state treasurer begins his campaign against the Hoosier state's senior senator. Richard Mourdock launched his senate bid against Senator Richard Lugar Tuesday in Indianapolis.
Mourdock says he appreciates Lugar's decades of service to Indiana, but says the six-term republican has lost touch with the state's needs. Mourdock has courted tea party groups that have been disgruntled with Lugar, saying he hasn't been conservative enough. Mourdock is from the Evansville area and has been treasurer since 2007.
