INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (NEWS RELEASE) -– Indiana Legislators were sworn in today, Organization Day, which marks the first meeting for the 118th General Assembly. Chief Justice Brent Dickson administered the oath of office to the Members, including 25 freshmen.

“Just like a responsible family, we will sit together at our desks on the House floor and in the committee rooms of this building – and work through the monumental issues facing our state,"
said newly re-elected Speaker of the House, Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis).

State Representative Ed Clere (R-New Albany) was re-elected to represent House District 72, which includes most of Floyd County.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent my community at the Statehouse. I am prepared to continue working on their behalf to make Indiana the best state in which to find and keep a job, get an education and raise a family,” said Rep. Clere.

In October, the House Republican Caucus released its legislative agenda, making it clear that the upcoming legislative session will focus on financial integrity, jobs and education. That focus was echoed today as the 69 House Republicans prepared for the session with a resolve to accomplish those priorities and continue to propel Indiana toward becoming a state in which every Hoosier has the opportunity to realize the American Dream.

“As legislators, we seek to create a state of opportunity for every Hoosier, said Rep. Clere. “I look forward to working together to achieve great things in the upcoming session.”
