GOP hopeful Lally drums Yarmuth

Citing "gross misconduct in the operation of our government," Republican Congressional candidate Todd Lally responded Tuesday to U.S. Representative John Yarmuth filing for a third term.

"Yarmuth has voted against his constituency in favor of a health care measure that will ultimately hurt local businesses and families,"  Lally said in a statement, "He voted for Cap and Trade legislation that will hurt Kentucky industry, Kentucky jobs, and Kentuckians' pocketbooks by way of higher energy costs. He has voted 98.8% of the time with Nancy Pelosi, and has acted consistently as a mouthpiece for her radical agenda."

Lally is a UPS pilot, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Kentucky Air National Guard and a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.  His military background is reminiscent of Erwin Roberts, the JAG lawyer who dropped his bid for the GOP nomination in 2008 after he was called up by the U.S. Army Reserves.

Yarmuth has done little in his three years in Congress to keep us safe at home and abroad.  His voting record in Congress and floor speeches demonstrate neither focus nor an understanding of either the complexity of fighting two wars or the imminent danger to our way of life here in the United States. We need members of Congress that recognize global threats and will address them with courage and fortitude.

Yarmuth defeated incumbent Congresswoman Anne Northup in 2006, campaigning against her support of the Iraq war.
