The Republican party in Kentucky has never seen anything like it.
Bowling Green eye doctor Rand Paul has no political experience, but with the support of the same people who backed his Dad, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, when he ran for president. Rand Paul has now at least pulled even with Secretary of State Trey Grayon in the GOP U.S. Senate primary.
32% Grayson
35% Paul
2% Johnson
1% Oerther
3% Thoney
10% Other
18% Undecided
In fact, the WHAS11/Survey USA poll has Paul ahead of Grayson by three percentage points, with a 4.1 percent margin of error. While Grayson is down five from our last poll 11 weeks ago, Paul has gained nine points since then.
Meanwhile, in the Democratic primary, Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo now leads Attorney General Jack Conway by 11 points.
28% Conway
39% Mongiardo
2% Price
1% Sweeney
5% Miller-Johnson
10% Other
16% Undecided
Mongiardo maintains the same 39 percent support from the last poll, but Conway is slightly down. Yet a full third of the likely voters in each primary don't back any of the four major candidates.

It's so gratifying to see Rand Paul taking the lead. It restores my faith in the people to choose good representatives for themselves. We're sick and tired of the mess the career politicians have made, and we're finally going to do something about it! This is a referendum on politics as usual, or a fresh start with a return to what matters to Kentuckians - common sense, balanced budgets, and trust in free enterprise and individual liberty instead of big government to run our lives. 94% of Kentuckians opposed the TARP-1 bailout and the Republican Minority Leader not only voted for it, he twisted arms to ensure it passed, and unbelievably, we reelected him a month later. People now understand the non-representative behavior and we demand better than that, and not just more of the same.

It's nice to see the Rand Paul is gaining so much support. Rand Paul is one of the few true politicians out there, he actually believes in small government. Rand Paul was against the bail outs, opposes the Iraq War, and is out to redistribute our civil liberties around America. Vote Rand Paul.

Being an outsider and not a lifelong politician with "experience" on screwing taxpayers is what makes Rand so great! Yay!

I like it that Rand Paul comes from the 'producer' class. He understands the American Dream because he lives it. He fixes eyes and meets a payroll. He knows the dangers of a government 'solution' to every problem. I look forward to his triumph - actually a triumph for the voters in KY and a blessing for the rest of us.

Payday loan store robbery is becoming a popular crime, and another crook has tried to get away with it. Raymundo Gallegos has epically failed, not passed go, won't be getting $200, and instead is going to jail again, as this won't be his first stint inside for armed robbery. The presiding judge saw his incorrigibility, and gave him 10 years for the crime. Employees were threatened at gun point, and ironically, he could have used some cash advance loans after robbing a store for a lawyer.
