Conway won't commit to Reid as Democratic Leader

In an interview with Mandy Connell on 84WHAS Radio Wednesday morning, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jack Conway reiterated his opposition to Cap and Trade and his support of "Card Check," the union backed initiative to make labor organizing easier.  But Conway also introduced a new question for Democrats.  Should Harry Reid be reelected as Democratic Leader?

Conway, who has pointed out that Republican Rand Paul has waffled on supporting Senator Mitch McConnell as Republican Leader in the U.S. Senate, was also non-committal when asked if he would support Harry Reid as Democratic Leader of the U.S. Senate.

"Well, it's interesting, Rand Paul was trying to bait me on this last week at the Farm Bureau forum," Conway laughed, "I guess because he's claiming I was going to vote for Harry Reid, I guess he's throwing (GOP Tea Party candidate) Sharon Angle under the bus, saying that Harry Reid is going to be reelected in Nevada."

But, Conway stopped far short of endorsing Reid as leader, and suggested that Reid may well lose his reelection bid for Senate.

"I don't know.  We don't know the outcome of that race in Nevada.  I don't know the outcome of a lot of these races and that kind of falls in the category of 'measuring the drapes.'"

"What I will do is I will go up there and cast my ballot for someone that I respect, someone that I think will be a good leader, and someone who will always listen to me when it comes to representing the interests of Kentucky."
