Jack Conway and Rand Paul are in a virtual dead heat in a new Insight Cable poll of Kentucky's U.S. Senate race.
Jack Conway 41.7%
Rand Paul 41.2%
Margin of error: +/- 3.46 points.
The poll was conducted Aug. 16-18 by Braun Research Inc. of Princeton, N.J..
The results reflect a 10-point jump for Conway from the last statewide cn|2 Poll taken Aug. 2-4. Support for Paul has held steady at around 41 percent for each of the three statewide cn|2 Polls
The Insight poll is the THIRD poll of the Senate race this week.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll of the Kentucky Senate race shows Republican Rand Paul leading Democrat Jack Conway by five points among likely voters, 45% to 40%. Yet, among "registered voters," the race is a dead heat at 40% each.
And, a Rasmussen Reports poll shows Paul with a nine point lead among likely voters, 49% to 40%.
The latest WHAS11/Courier-Journal Bluegrass poll conducted by Survey USA, which is widely considered as the most reliable measure of the race, was released on July 31 and showed Paul with an eight point lead, 51% to 43%.
Another WHAS11/Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll of the Senate race, the Third District Congressional race and the Louisville mayor's race are all expected in September.
