(WHAS11 Political Blog) -- Mitt Romney is poised to crush Barack Obama in the contest for Kentucky's eight electoral votes, a new Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll shows.
The Louisville Courier-Journal's Joe Gerth has the numbers in Friday's newspaper:
662 Likely Kentucky Voters
Mitt Romney (R) 54%
Barack Obama (D) 41%
Other 2%
Undecided 3%
The poll was conducted by SurveyUSA Oct 28-30
Margin of error +/- 3.9%
The poll finds that Obama supporters are more driven to vote for him rather than against Romney by a 73% to 25% margin. 58% of Romney voters are motivated by their affinity for Romney compared with 39% of Romney voters who are motivated to vote against Obama.
Republicans in downticket Kentucky races are counting on those 39% who are more "anti-Obama" than "Pro-Romney" to mimic their protest vote in the state races.
