The Bluegrass Bulletin blog mentions rumors that Republican stalwart and philanthropist Cathy Bailey is also considering entering the GOP primary for Governor. Tea Partier and education reformer Phil Moffett and Kentucky Senate President David Williams have already announced their candidacies:
Williams is tough and his support within the party structure runs deep, as it should. Afterall, he has been the single most powerful weapon the GOP has possessed in a state that without him, would have been completely dominated by democrats.
Moffett doesn't have that kind of built in loyalty either out in the state, or down in the Mitch McConnell building where Rand fans were dismissed as zealots until the middle of May.
Cathy Bailey adds a whole new ingredient to the mix. She has serious party loyalty credentials, having served as Kentucky's chairwoman on the Republican National Committee, Ambassador to Latvia and a prodigious fund raiser for the GOP cause over many years. The question becomes, how does she fit into the picture should she decide to run?
