FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Steve Beshear sees no need to crack down on gunowners who carry weapons into the state Capitol.
Beshear told reporters Tuesday he feels safe under current rules that allow people to bring their guns into the Capitol.
Some lawmakers had pressed for a ban last year after an unidentified man wore a holstered gun into the House chamber and sat through an afternoon session.
Both the House and Senate have rules that allow visitors to openly carry guns and that allow lawmakers to carry concealed weapons.
Beshear said only lawmakers, not the governor, have the authority to modify gun rules in the Capitol.
