LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -   The cocker spaniel that was thrown from a speeding car on a Southern Indiana highway is now on the long road to recovery.

On Thursday, Bambi was moved to the All Pets Veterinary Center, after being in an animal emergency center since she was hurt last week. She is recovering from surgery that was done to repair her fractured pelvis. Her veterinarian, Dr. Jewell, says Bambi is doing very well, all things considered, but she will be on crate rest for the next 8 to 12 weeks.

There are still fractures in the dog's pelvis that haven't been stabilized, so Dr. Jewell says the challenge in the coming weeks will be trying to keep Bambi from moving around too much - to allow her time to heal.

She'll be able to start rehab in about 4 weeks.

If you are interested in assisting in the cost of Bambi’s care, please donate to Shamrock Arrow Fund.
