The411 with Sherlene Shanklin: Over the last few years we have seen a surge in entertainment in the city of Louisville. It's due to several things, the emergence of top entertainment venues, the reputation the state has created and the economic boost by selling out the venues. There's also a surge of things to do from spending the day at Churchill Downs to walking down Main Street taking in museums like the Frazier Historical, Louisville Slugger to the Muhammad Ali Center.
All have a rich history not only locally but national and international. We will be thrust into the spotlight once again because of international icon and Louisville native Muhammad Ali known to the world as the "Greatest" of all time.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the iconic boxing match "Rumble in The Jungle" between Ali and George Foreman. The Muhammad Ali Center wanted to commerate the legendary event by creating CONGO14 Louisville. The event will feature two-time Grammy award winner Bruno Mars and the artists that made the Motown sound so famous, The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, an original member of the soulful R & B/Soul group.
Mars will be performing hits from his Moonshine Jungle tour which included "Grenade", "If I Were Your Man", "Just the Way You Are" "Locked Out of Heaven", and "Treasure" just to name a few of his many hits.
When you think of the Temptations Review you can't help but to think out their countless hits and the precision choreography the multi-Grammy group has performed. From "My Girl", "Papa Was A Rollin Stone", to "Get Ready" and "Just My Imagination".
You can see Bruno Mars and the Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards Saturday, September 20th at the Kentucky International Convention Center at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are now available. There's discounts available for members of the military and their families, students and educators. There's also another unique perk. Hold onto your ticket stub because it will give you free admission into the Muhammad Ali Center.
You can purchase tickets for the CONGO14 Louisville-Ali Center Benefit Concert at the Kentucky Exposition Center Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
On Thursday, August 28th, the Muahmmad Ali Center will announce their celebrity guest list for their Second Annual Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards to be held on Saturday, September 27th at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.
