The411 with Sherlene Shanklin: This weekend actors Robin Givens and Leon will be in Louisville for Ericka Nicole Malone’s Gospel stage play “In Love with Tyrone”. The play is on a nine-city tour which started earlier this month. The play is about a cheater exposed and a schemer’s demise. The play will take you through pain and bitterness to renewal and redemption as Danetta played by Givens rediscovers her faith and values after she finds out that her husband Tyrone, played by gospel music artist Brian Lamont has an affair with her best friend. Leon plays a mobster who vows to get his money back that Tyrone owes him.
We are all familiar with the names of Givens and Leon but have you heard the name Johnathan “Jon-John” Johnson? The Louisville native and BET’s Sunday Best Season 2 top 20 finalist is also in the stage play. The411 has followed this young man’s career and just over a few short years, he is getting great opportunities to be on national television and now play alongside Givens and Leon. I did reach out to Johnson and we talked about his character. He says "I play the role of Pastor Lewis- who is not only the pastor, but Tyrone's father... You will be able to see the outcome of what a praying father who refuses to give up on his son/children. You're guaranteed to laugh, cry and praise!! I'm so super excited about coming 'home' to Louisville to perform in “IN LOVE WITH TYRONE”. This is an experience you don't want to bypass and miss out on... I pray that you will Be blessed from this performance from the entire production."
“In Love with Tyrone” is at the Louisville Palace, September 21st and 22nd. Tickets start at $39.00. You can purchase them at Ticketmaster.com or the Louisville Palace box office.
