A rainy period is expected Sunday through Tuesday as a frontal boundary stalls over the region with several waves of precipitation riding along the boundary. Remember last week when we got 1 to 3 inches of rain dumped on us? Well, the same pattern is setting up over the next several days. Check the image below that shows how much rain could fall through Tuesday with this system. Anywhere from 2 to 3 inches with locally heavier amounts.
This year has already been soggy. Take a look at the graph below which shows rainfall for the year so far at Standiford Field. The smooth red line is normal, green line is the wettest year (2004), and the dark blue line represents this year's rain. We are still above the pace set by the rains of our wettest year ever, which is 2004. Standiford Field needs only around 6 more inches of rain through New Year's Eve to exceed our record wet year.
