LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS)--Louisville Metro Police were called to the scene of a deadly accident in the 12000 block of Dixie Highway around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
Upon arrival, police found two men who died at the scene and a green Mitsubishi that had been ripped in half. The two men were identified as 34-year-old Laine Lindsey and 34-year-old Michael Cronin.
Witnesses said the car was speeding south on Dixie Highway when it left the roadway, hit a light pole, a fire hydrant and then another light pole.
"When the vehicle struck the last light fixture it basically sawed off the car in half. One of the individuals was ejected, the other remained in the car," Dwight Mitchell, LMPD public information officer, said.
Police said speed was definitely a factor in this crash.
