(WHAS11) - Tonight at 6, WHAS11 I-Team's Adam Walser discovers issues with the criminal justice system that allow drunk drivers to stay behind the wheel.
Recently, the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office announced that breathalyzer test results from hundreds of DUI cases will have to be excluded.
That’s because the technicians who administered the tests allowed their certifications to lapse.
We discovered that one of those cases involved a suspect who had been arrested for DUI 14 times before his latest case, and is currently on felony diversion for a drug offense.
His sister contacted us about him when she learned he might get off on the latest case, because she’s worried he’s going to kill himself or someone else.
WHAS11’s Investigative Reporter Adam Walser has been looking into this case and how it may have able to occur, despite strong DUI laws.
What do you think about a system that one former prosecutor says is failing?
