(KMOV) - It's always amazing to see the power of community in action. A case in point unfolded on the KMOV.com facebook page Tuesday.

A concerned citizen called about a cat stuck in a tree near Blanchette boat ramp in St. Charles around noon. A KMOV.com producer posted a picture of the cat a short time later on the KMOV.com facebook page and asked if anyone could help. Within minutes volunteers were working to come up with a rescue plan.

By late afternoon, employees with Bauer Tree and Landscaping from Maryland Heights and Allen's Tree Service in St. Charles County used a lift to hoist a worker to the top of the tree. A worker named Mike made the rescue.

The cat, a big black one, is now on its way to the Tenth Life rescue organization which will foster it until its owner can be found, or it finds a new home.
