The411:  TheSlice: Spice, Style & Soul is a great event during the Kentucky Derby with great food, and music. Nine years ago, the event started in a small section of 13th and Broadway and today the party has traffic in the area stopping because they are trying to see what's going on. Hundreds of people gather at the only official Kentucky Derby Festival event sanctioned.   The Slice Charities of Louisville is a non-profit organization has helped numerous organizations in Louisville.  Last year's proceeds benefited Blessings in a Backpack.  This year, The Slice will honor community service oriented organizations.  They will recognize the Black Greek Letter Fraternities, 100 Black Men of Louisville, The Yearlings Club, The Epicurean Club and The Esquire Club.  TheSlice will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
The event is held under huge white tents at 1310 West Broadway.  Hundreds of people stand in line dressed in bright beautiful colors and some in evening wear waiting to sample some great food from local chefs and caterers as well as complimentary wine and beverages.  Tickets are $45 which includes a 2011 official Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Pin.
TheSlice: Spice, Style & Soul is an official Kentucky Derby Festival event.  If you would like to purchase tickets go to www.thesliceoflouisville.org or go to St. Augustine Church located at 1310 W. Broadway.
