(WHAS11) - For the past 20 years, WHAS11 has been showing you the success stories behind Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana.
Many nights we show you youngsters who are in need of a match on the waiting list but this one if different.
Deshawn Adkins is one lucky man, he's got both a big brother and big sister.
10-year-old Deshawn Adkins is being introduced to ice hockey by none other than the Louisville Storm hockey team.
He loves it.
He came to the Alpine ice house with his new big brother and big sister, husband and wife Nicole and Emil Walton.
To have two is rare, a big brother and big sister, but not unheard of for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana.
In fact, they have boyfriend- girlfriends teams, two co-workers or two friends, any couples can volunteer to be a mentor to one young person and it really works well when Nicole has to work, or Emil is tied up.
For Deshawn, it's been a treat since June, when this match all started and on the ice with hockey team isn't too bad either.
Deshawn is proud of his classes and grades, he loves reading and science and with this trio, it's not all action. They love touring museums, like the Speed.
If you want to help a young person become a great adult, the organization needs your help as a volunteer.
