(WHAS11)-In this week’s Big Brothers Big Sisters, WHAS11’s Doug Proffitt gets in on the beginning of a brand new Big Brother match.
The match came to life at a special get together that Big Brothers Big Sisters Kentuckiana put together, where the laser guns were blasting as Bigs and Littles squared off in an attempt to entertain and enlighten.
12-year-old Newburg Middle School student Darius and his new Big Brother, Rudy Jones, have been together for about two months.
“It’s a great opportunity,” says Rudy.
Darius is an A-B student in AP programs, getting support and a great example from Rudy.
His goal in life?
Darius says, “(To do) the best I can in everything I do and try my hardest.”
Darius has his sights set on high school. With the help of his Big Brother Rudy, a retired 34-year employee of Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, along with Big Brother Big Sisters, he his getting the help he needs to get there.
You are required by Big Brothers Big Sisters to spend only a few hours a month with your Little, however, we find that most matches far exceed that amount.
