LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A great pair of shoes can make all the difference in the world especially if you are finding them with a great friend. WHAS11 caught up with Louisville Big Sister Emily Beauregard, who is making sure the holidays are bright for one child.
Keeasia Spencer, 9, enjoys the delight of picking new shoes like any young person.
She may like the stylish, high society shoes but in the end, this elementary school student from Roosevelt Perry picks out the style that is an eye catcher and full of color.
It’s the simple things in life these two love to do together as big sister, little sister, nothing high tech.
“We like to read, bake, go to museums, yeah, we do everything together,” Emily Beauregard said. For these two there's also libraries, swimming and outings to Louisville's many festivals.
She's nice. We go to a lot of places,” Spencer said.
Beauregard said the time commitment is flexible.
As for time, that's been one important lesson.
It's time to keep on, having fun.
“It’s fun to watch her grow and learn,” Beauregard said.
Kentuckiana's Big Brothers Big Sisters was chosen by Payless shoes to be a partner in their Payless Gives program. Big brothers Big Sisters received 100 vouchers for the young people in the program to receive new shoes this holiday season.
It’s a great time of year for you to volunteer as a big brother or big sister. They are in their Gardiner Lane offices right now to help you get started call 1-877-588-2300.
