(WHAS11) -- You'd be surprised at what you can learn from an 11-year-old, 12- year-old and 14-year-old and there are a lot of sharp young people still on the waiting list.

Many of them African American boys, and this weekend, a group of concerned adults are doing something about it!

A walk down historic Main Street in Louisville with 11-year-old Brian Jackson and big brother Charles Piphus revealed one thing right away about this relationship. They say they have a lot of fun.

They are a new match for Big Brothers. Brian says his mom is a huge influence as well.

Charles started volunteering as a big brother in college. He now is one of the leaders in trying to get more African American men involved and volunteering.

Another pair looking to have fun this Saturday is Julius and Sondra as they gear up for their Big Brother recruitment.

Julius and Sondra Wilkerson own Big City Styles and are turning their business into the head recruiting center for Big Brothers, all day Saturday. They are looking to sign up men.

So take some time this Saturday and come downtown for the recruitment drive...all of your questions will be answered, and you can get some lunch at one of the new, Main Street restaurants.

This Saturday
9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Big City Styles

And if you can't make it...don't forget, the folks at big brothers are in their Gardiner Lane offices right now to help start as a volunteer and help a young person grow to be a great adult.
