(WHAS11) -- Weekends are a great time for haircuts and this Saturday, if you are looking to get that done, how about also learning more about how you can volunteer a few hours of your time to help a young person grow a little in their lives.
The biggest need is men. Young boys are on a long waiting list and as you can see, one person really makes a difference.
The trim is on for 11-year-old Demarco Broadus at New Image Barber Shop on Lyndon Lane.
The shop is a new venture for owner Mark Rorer and he's pleased to have Demarco in the chair and his big brother Robert Barbour of Norton Healthcare.
Here at New Image, Mark the owner took Demarco around showed him the store and explained what a small business faces.
Mark in turning is also becoming a volunteer, but using his store for a Big Brothers Big Sisters event this Saturday called Grooming Men of the Future it's a recruitment drive to get more men into the Big Brothers program. Those who are recruited will ultimately be matched with young people who will play, learn and learn with them as they grow.
The Kappa Alpha fraternity is another group that has joined with Big Brothers to help recruit men to get involved, and they've been a tremendous help getting more people involved.
The Grooming Men of the Future event is being held at the New Image Barber Shop at 813 Lyndon Lane. The event is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. so you've got all day to drop in. There will be live entertainment, free food and prizes!
And if you can't make it but want to volunteer, call the organization right now at 1-877-588-2300.
