LOUISVILLE, Ky. - (4.16.12) – The J Wagner Group is bringing together former University of Louisville and University of Kentucky stars for a new Derby event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters and Kickoff 4 Kids. Former U of L players Michael Bush and Amobi Okoye as well as Darius Miller, a member of the National Champion Kentucky Wildcats, will host the “Battle of the Bluegrass Charity Pool Tournament,” they will be joined by “The Black Widow” of professional pool Jeanette Lee.
“I loved my time living in Louisville and playing for U of L, so getting to be a part of a Derby event here in exciting,“ said Amobi Okoye, the former U of L star now a defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the youngest player ever selected in the first round of the NFL draft. “Michael and I hope to make this an annual event where everyone can have a good time while raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters and my charity, Kickoff 4 Kids.”
The event is open to the public and begins at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 3 at the Ice House (217 East Main Street). General Admission tickets are $50 and available online at www.jwagnergroup.com. They are also offering 20 people an opportunity to enter the tournament for $250 per person. and partner with a celebrity.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun for both Kentucky and Louisville fans to come out and see these guys try their hands at pool,” said event organizer Joey Wagner. “I don’t think any of them want to go up against [The Black Widow] Jeanette Lee.”
The event is sponsored by the J Wagner Group, Grey Goose Cherry Noir and Red Bull with 100% of proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters and Kickoff 4 Kids.
