Lane Goodwin, 13, has been fighting a rare form of cancer.  His family recently learned his cancer has spread to his brain.  So they brought him back home to McClean county from Vanderbilt Hospital.
"He told his doctor when we left Vanderbilt, ‘you just can't fix this anymore,’” said his mom, Angie. “That's when we knew he knew."
Angie says her main goal now is to keep Lane comfortable. The once-vibrant young boy is now frail. Since a seizure last week, he’s been confined to this bed, but that hasn’t hurt his spirit.  In fact, he’s known for showing people his fighting spirit with a simple thumbs up.
Now Lane's inspiring attitude has gone viral.  A Facebook page called "Thumbs up for Lane" has people from UK Coach John Calipari...to Kentucky attorney general Jack Conway... Garth brooks and Trisha Yearwood...and even mother nature…hundreds of people giving a “thumbs up” as a show of support.
His Facebook page has more than 100,000 likes...and growing.
"It's crazy," said Lane.
His family says it helps him know he's not alone in his fight and neither are they.
"With what he's gone through, it makes him feel good," said his dad.
The support brings a smile to a little boy's final days. His family feels inspired by the power of social media, but they are even more inspired by their little boy's courage.
"Are we going to be heartbroken when he goes? Absolutely. We've talked about that,” said Angie.  “We have to figure out how to go on, day by day. But I know he's going to be okay... So that makes it easier."
