Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The Kentucky State Fair is a go for day number one.
The food is just as exciting as the rides.
You have to forget your diet though and be a little daring to try the strange new food.
"It's kind of like a home cake batter except we add Kool-Aid flavoring in it," said a State Fair worker.
If you deep fry it, they will come.
New this year, it's a strange twist on an old favorite, Kool-Aid.
So what is it exactly?
"Deep fried Kool-Aid? How can it be not liquid?" asked Will Parker with Sivori Catering.
Sivori Catering takes the cake this year on weird food.
First, they make thick sweet batter dough.
Next, they add cherry Kool-Aid.
Then they scoop it up and fry it into a dough ball for a sweet treat.
Hundreds of thousands of folks will flock to the Kentucky State Fair and many will try something new for about $6.
Brennan Summers tasted the food.
"It's hot and kind of tastes like bread," he said.
They also have a new spin on Derby pie.
Take little squares and what else?
Oh, there's also a buffalo chicken Krispy Kreme donut sandwich.
It’s a mouthful to say and even harder to eat.
They had their employees do a taste test before it was unveiled.
"We tried several other variations with pork and beef sandwiches and whatever we dreamed up," said Don Kenna with Sivori Catering.
