LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- People around Kentuckiana will be raising money and shaving their heads for St. Baldrick’s to help fight childhood cancer.

Friday on Great Day Live, a local mom shaved her head on live television for a good cause, her daughter.

Rachel Miles and her hairdresser Tracey Kamer were ready for showtime.

Cancer has taken its toll on Rachel's 16-month-old daughter Addison. Her daughter has spent 11 months in Kosair Children's Hospital fighting Leukemia. The third bone marrow transplant seems to be working.

Rachel is the first of 50 family members and friends who will cut their hair as part of Team Addison. The big event is Sunday at St. Michael's Community Center in Jeffersontown.

Team Addison is also helping to spearhead several bone marrow drives. The message of their cause is to beat childhood cancer.
