LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The benches are already lining Broadway downtown, and Tuesday night was a chance for a sneak peek of this year's Pegasus Parade.
The Kentucky Exposition Center was filled with inflatables, floats, horses and equestrian groups on Tuesday, as well as clowns and other activities for children.
Richard Spencer is the chairman of this year's Republic Bank Pegasus Parade. He’s been involved in the parade for thirty years.
Spencer says the parade, and its preview, are always growing.
"Our goal is to make it better and better every year,” Spencer said, “and it appears to get bigger and better all the time. We keep adding new elements, so it makes it more interesting than the previous year."
The Secretariat float is a new addition to the 2010 parade. It commemorates the new Disney movie filmed in Louisville and Lexington in the fall of 2009.
One of the stars of the movie is Diane Lane. She plays Penny Chenery, Secretariat’s owner.
Lane and Chenery will be co-grand marshals of Thursday's parade.
