LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Christmas is coming early for 150 children from Louisville's west end. Three community groups teamed up for a little shopping on Thursday morning.
" The economic times has really impacted the community. We are lucky to be working with the brother of Damascus and step up and make their Christmas a little brighter, " Jerry Ward with Kosair Shriners said.
It was all a part of the St. Stephen Family Life Center 's Stars program. They work with Kosair Charities and Damascus Temple to help more than 150 kids.
"So many people this time of year are so hopeless and just to be able to do this and see the kids smile. That's what we are here for and that's what makes it worth it," Christine Cosby with St. Stephen Family Life Center said.
" Christmas is about opening your hearts and helping families," Ward said.
This shopping event is focused on kids ages 13 and under. They are shopping mainly for clothing for all these children but there will also be a few surprises.
The children and their families will receive the gifts December 22 at 8 p.m. at St. Stephen Family Life Center.
