LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The 60th Annual WHAS Crusade for Children raised more than $6 million this year, a new record total for special needs children in Kentuckiana.
But the grand total isn’t the only milestone for Crusaders this year, several fire department hit a milestone of their own - $1 million in cumulative donations.
“With this money that you all have collected for the Crusade it puts you over the one million dollar cumulative total," Crusade CEO Dawn Lee said as she presented a plaque to the Shively Fire Department.
Shively chief, Greg Cambron, and fire marshal, Mark Lafollette, accepted the plaque with more money in hand for the WHAS Crusade for Children.
The two Crusade veterans said the credit really goes to the generous people and businesses of Shively for the fire department being able to reach this milestone.
