LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Second Street Flicks began Thursday evening.

The first movie that was shown was “42”; the story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson who broke the color barrier in baseball.

It's the first of two movies that each will have ties to Kentuckiana.

Robinson had support from Louisvillian Pee Wee Reese who played with Robinson. Louisville Slugger still has the contracts that Robinson signed.

The street opened at 7 p.m. and the movie started at 9.

The next one is July 3 and that movie is "Stripes," which was filmed in Louisville and Fort Knox. Many of the scenes in downtown Louisville were filmed under the bridge where the movie is being shown.
