JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The owners of Schimpff’s Confectionery of Jeffersonville, Indiana, will compete in an international candy-making competition in Gränna, Sweden.

Warren and Jill Schimpff will be the only U.S. competitors representing their candy business.

All participants will be asked to prepare the same confection, 32, 1.8 ounce red-striped peppermint sticks called polkagrisar, or polka dancing pigs, from 3.8 pounds of sugar.

According to the Schimpff’s, they don’t expect to win, but they do hope to have a lot of fun as they get a chance to meet other candy makers from around Europe.

The Candy Championships are August 9th and 10th.
