(WHAS11) This Saturday, Oct. 15, Kentuckiana highlights the growing number of cases of diabetes in our region by supporting "The Step-Out Walk." For four years now, WHAS11 has sponsored the walk, which is also a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association.
Once again, WHAS11’s Doug Proffitt is emceeing the event.
Diabetes this summer was determined to be a world-wide epidemic. Chances are you may know someone with it, if you are not dealing with the disease yourself. It's all about keeping your blood sugar to nearly normal levels, something your body can no longer do for you.
That's why this walk brings the support to those who need it; like one Louisville man who’s using technology to control his diabetes.
The Step-Out Walk to fight diabetes is on Saturday, October 15 at 9 a.m. on the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park. Besides the walk, there will be free food and blood sugar testing.
