LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – 100 Children and families who lost their homes and belongings in fires this year were able to celebrate an early Christmas this year.
The Louisville Red Cross and the Firefighters Union Local 345 hosted the 27th annual holiday party.
The celebration featured Santa Claus whose arrival was made courtesy of the fire department.
Children and families received gifts from Santa and his elves in addition to reindeer games, refreshments and activities.
With nearly 25 house fires happening a month, The Red Cross provides victims with assistance for food, clothing, medications, temporary shelter and other special needs.
