LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- With most area pools open for the summer, it's a good time to talk about pool safety.
Metro Parks operates the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center, four outdoor pools and 29 spray parks across Jefferson County. They offer weekday and weekend swim lessons and various other opportunities to learn about pool safety.
"You need to have some type of safety device around your backyard pool, even if it is just a noodle or life jacket but swim lessons are the best way to go because a child can learn how to swim," said Aquatics Director Keith Smith.
Metro Parks offers swim lessons for all ages beginning at six months.
