LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – A local historical home promoted home-gardens in its largest fundraiser of the year this weekend.
Riverside, the Farnsley-Moreman landing, held its plant and herb sale on Saturday and Sunday.
The home grows plants, vegetables, herbs and seeds on its 300-acre farm every year. Workers then sell them for home gardens.
“In every aspect in today's super global economy, it's important to focus on our local environment, especially for our food source and our plants,” said Kathy Nichols, a consultant. “That way you can control what you're putting into your garden, and you can control what you're putting into your body. You support local business so your money stays home.”
Although the sale is already over, the historic supervisor says if people show up on Monday, they will sell any plants left over.
