LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—Those pedestrians who walk on the Second Street Bridge will get to continue that during lane restrictions that are to start soon.
Pedestrian access will still be allowed as lane restrictions begin next week on the Indiana approach to the bridge, but it will be limited.
Andy Barber, the Downtown Crossing project manager, said that after they heard concerns about the loss of access, he found a solution.
A modified plan will allow continuous sidewalk access alone one side of the bridge during the lane restrictions.
Work will start on the southbound lanes of US 31 and the pedestrian access will be maintained on the northbound sidewalk.
