LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS)--Two things signal the end of summer; kids head back to school and the Kentucky State Fair.
The gates are now open for the first day of the fair and hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend over the next 11 days.
The fair is also expected to bring in some $16 million to the local economy.
The opening day kicked off with the annual Commodities Breakfast and WHAS11's Gene Kang was there live as the breakfast got underway.
Be sure to come out to the fair for "WHAS11 Day at the Fair" on Aug. 26, you can meet all of your favorite WHAS11 personalities.
