(WHAS11) One Jefferson County school is getting a shake up in their dress code. Students at Olmsted North Academy, which is an all male school, wore neck ties on Tuesday for the first time.
The principal at Omstead said parents, staff and the student council endorsed the change and that they have had an overwhelmingly good response so far.
“We’re an all boys school and so we wanted to help our young men get prepared beyond middle school; and so we feel like that if they dress well, they are [gonna] feel well and look well, and if those things are in place it’s going to transfer over into helping them academically as well,” said the principal.
The principal said there were a few students who didn’t know about the change, but they were able to provide those students with a now-required neck tie.
