LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, city workers will have the day off. This means there will be no trash pickup for Louisville's urban services district. Garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections for that area will not start back up until next Monday, January 23. Post offices will also be closed. That means there will be no residential or business deliveries.

Normally, when trash pickup is delayed due to a holiday, collections for the rest of the week are delayed a day. However, the city is not doing that this year to help save $50,000 in overtime pay. Residents with Tuesday through Friday garbage and recycling collections will not be affected.

Although post offices will be closed, you can still get your postal products online at USPS.com and stamps are available at most grocery, pharmacy, and convenience stores.
