Monroe County, Ind. (WHAS11)- A southern Indiana fire department's new fire truck remains parked Tuesday, while city officials determine if its purchase was properly handled.
The Benton Township, in Monroe County, paid $287,000 for the fire truck.
But the city attorney cannot find any evidence that a former trustee advertised a public notice for residents to object to the purchase, since a tax increase would be needed.
The city is now working with the bank that financed the truck, to figure out what to do next.
In the meantime, firefighters are using other trucks to respond to calls.
