NASCAR Sprint Cup Series begins in Saturday in Sparta

SPARTA, Ky. (WHAS11)-  The Quaker State 400 at the Kentucky Speedway begins Saturday, July 9, but there is already a lot of action at the Speedway in Sparta, Ky.

WHAS11 caught up with Nascar driver Denny Hamlin in the Portland Neighborhood on Wednesday.
   
Hamlin was helping to promote disaster awareness with the Red Cross and showed off his number 11 FedEx car.
   
He has raced at the Kentucky Speedway before and says he is hopeful he will win another Cup Race this year.

Hamlin is eleventh in the Sprint Cup Series at 91 points behind the leader, Kevin Harvick.
