(WHAS11) Ladies, don’t be surprised to see a bunch of men in the waiting room the next time you go to the spa.
They’re not waiting on their wives. Men are showing up for everything from Botox, to liposuction. They say it’s not about vanity it’s about keeping that competitive edge.
The Medical Spa; it’s a place where you picture woman being pampered and pricked to, smooth out wrinkles. But now, men are showing up by the dozens.
Like Andy Osborne, a sales executive for a hotel group. “I just turned 40 this year, so I wanted to do something to make myself a little younger.”
This trip to the Med Spa is a first for Osborne. “I felt a little strange making the call, but they put me right at ease; saying it was typical and they are seeing more and more men.”
Doctor Bill Johnson said, while woman go after ideals, modeling themselves off what they see in magazines, men book appointments for very different reasons. “It’s not about looking like someone it’s about being better than. It’s a competition for the guys.”
Osborne said, “There are a lot of people who are younger getting into hotel sales, so anything I can do to make myself look a little younger, be more competitive…”
The current job market is also bringing a lot of patients in, specifically men. They want to look a little younger and more vital, so they can get that perfect job.
For those back on the job market, they say they feel as though they’re competing for the same job as a 28 year old.
For that reason, 25% of business at innovation Medical Spa is now men; not just for Botox, but even Lipo and Thermage.
