(WHAS 11)--The Louisville Metro Council will be electing its leadership for the next year Jan. 7.
Democrat Jim King is expected to win a third consecutive term as council president.
14 members will also be sworn in including 2 new members elected in November.
The council keeps its 17-9, democrat-republican split in membership.
Members are also expected to introduce a handful of new legislation.
The meeting starts at 5 p.m.
