(WHAS11)  In the past week, the boxing community has lost two influential people; Joe Frazier and former Heavyweight Champion Greg Page's wife, Patricia.  And Saturday, members of Louisville’s boxing community got together to talk about Louisville’s mark on the boxing world.

Trainer James Doolin led the free panel discussion at the Muhammad Ali Center.  Boxing trainer Emmitt Igo and Kentucky Golden Glove Champion Troy Eskeridge also participated in the panel.

Louisville boxing’s past, present and future were all discussed, and stories and memories were shared about Ali, Page and Frazier.  Doolin says boxing needs to make sure it keeps the culture alive, especially after the loss of some of the greats.

“If boxing doesn't reach out to somebody like Muhammad Ali, boxing will die.  Boxing will be a thing of the past.  Ali's got to step forward and save boxing again,” said Doolin.
