(WHAS11) -- The city of Louisville ranks higher than San Diego, Boston, Orlando, Hartford and St. Louis according to the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The conference named Louisville the most livable large city.
The biggest reason was Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's give a day week of service. During that week in April Louisville residents gave their time to volunteer by reading to homeless children, writing letters to the troops and cleaning up their neighborhoods.
West Palm Beach, Fla. was named the most livable small city.
